"So, just who do you think you are? What's your name kid?"
"Now look here, don't you be callin' me kid. The names Matthew Jaime Foster, you can call me Matthew. My mama never called me Matt, neither did the pa. Just you keep in mind I'm a bit further on in years then you."
"That's as good a name as any. How old are you?
"Born back in '51 I was. I'm gettin' on in age; I'll be reachin' my sixty-third this June."
"What would be your role in our... current society?
You mean that Indi Jones fellow? My lass Pammy certainly would've thought me quite the looker if only I'd gotten his looks a bit earlier! Ah well, at least she thought me handsome enough to take me.
"You see, I served in the army September '71 'till May '76 as a medical man. I'll be a right good medic here- don't discount me with a gun now, they trained us real good with them- I still went 'unting with my boy right before this all started."
"You're a weird looking man. You remind me a lot of Harrison Ford.

How would you describe yourself? You a rebel? Or maybe you're more about niceties?
"Well Pammy would've loved to tell ya how lazy I've gotten in the years- but lazy ain't an option in the kind of world. I have a level head, though keep in mind I grew up in a different time- my boy and his wife used to have to keep me in check 'cause of some prejudice I grew up 'round. I won't go cussin out a black or tellin' a lady to go cook, but I do tend to show my age a bit when I meet 'em.
Another thing 'bout me we need to get settled here and now. I'm a religious man, got my bible with me and all, went to church every Sunday and paid my dues. Don't worry, I won't bite yeh though- my little girl married a non believer, and we get on all right. Though I do pray for their souls- hell, I pray for all our souls these days- the killin' we have to do to survive... "

"What kind of weapon do you like to use? That's important information."
"Well lad, if ya been listening you would've heard I'm pretty handy with any kinda gun. Not quite the crack shot as my brother in arms were, but decent enough to have brought home my fair share of venison for my wife to make a good meal out of"
"Are you with a clan, kid?"
"Right now I've settled down at the church- gotta stay near God in the rough times, ya' know?"
"Now, I know it's not much relevance now-a-days, but I like to know a little about people before I cut 'em loose. Who did you lose in all this? And how did you get where you are today?"
"Born and raised in a small town- farm boy I was. My mother taught me and my three brothers well, kept us on our feet and saw we treated her and out four sisters right. Pop got killed in a tractor accident when I was 'bout sixteen. Oldest brother Sam, who was twenty three, took over the farm and my eldest sister, Isabel- Twenty one, settled with her husband just down the road to keep an eye on mum. Laura was out only a few months later and it was just me and my three younger siblings left- Harrison, Charlie and Patty- she was just seven.
We were all right for the next for years, and when I hit 17, Sam, Isabel and Laura all had nice families- so I set off to school for trainin', having finished school early. Started serving as a medic in the army around 21, 'bit young but I learned quick in College, an' all the boys were goin' off too war those days. Came back five years later and found a nice lady with the name Pamela (Don't tell 'er I told you 'er name though! Everyone calls her Pammy. 'cept the kids and grand kids of course.), Charlie introduced me. She was twenty and a real nice catch. Though she was quite a bit more willful then more ladies then, didn't let me push her around- not once! We had five kids while I worked at a small clinic. There was Iris - She's 26 now, found man and settled down four years ago- got three children now. Pammy didn't know how she could manage so many little ones. Tyler- he's got a wife and baby of his own, works as an electrician- he's 25. Macy just hit 23, she's not married yet, Pammy was so proud when she decided to got to law school- though she did have a lad on her arm- he seemed real nice. Marty was 21, he lived with me and Pammy when this all started- he was helpin' me at the clinic... He... Well, let's just say he didn't make it down here and leave it at that. Then there's Kaitlyn- she only seventeen, she's with her mother right now. Pammy, Kaitlyn and me got separated a few months back. God I pray for their safety- they should be all right... Kaitlyn took karate as a kid and they're both feisty red heads, wouldn't go down without a fight. Pammy's got a level head and will keep 'em both safe. We had another little boy, just after Iris- Eric, he passed at three months.
Also no, I haven't heard from my siblings since this started. Me, my wife and girl were headin' toward the farm where Sam, Isabel and my Mother all lived- Laura wasn't too far off either. However plans have changed since then."
