"So, just who do you think you are? What's your name kid?"
"Well, the names Dave Lloyd. Most call me D."
"That's as good a name as any. How old are you?
"Ripe age of twenty six."
"What would be your role in our... current society?
"Well, I'm good with a weapon, so I'd consider myself a Warrior."
"You're a weird looking man. You remind me a lot of Joseph Gordon Levitt.
How would you describe yourself? You a rebel? Or maybe you're more about niceties?
"Well, I guess you could call me cool and collected. I like to think of myself as someone who attachs to a group in need. One of those hero types. You know, if a lady screams, I'm the first to rush in and help her. Kill first, Questions later. I keep to myself, silent mostly. I mean, only reason we're talking right now is because of the census, right?"
"What kind of weapon do you like to use? That's important information."
"You know, where most may say guns or firearms of some sort, I like to think of myself as a blade-master. Granted, most of them are dead, but who's to say I'm not huh? Knives, Machete, Sword, Dagger, Polearm."
"Are you with a clan, kid?"
"Currently? No. I'm what the locals call a Loner. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to Clans, I just haven't found one that needs me, or that I like."
"Now, I know it's not much relevance now-a-days, but I like to know a little about people before I cut 'em loose. Who did you lose in all this? And how did you get where you are today?"
"Be honest, I don't much like talking about it, but I'll give you a little bit of info. I lost a father. Mother died before all this, and I lost two sisters. One, I saw die. That kinda shit sticks with you. The other, she kinda just left me. I don't know where she is now, or what happened to her honestly. I care, sure, but she abandoned me. Usually the younger siblings listen to their older counterpart, but she was the typical headstrong woman. Went with this guy she had fallen in love with, and I use the term 'love' loosely. It's her life, she can make her own decisions.
As for how I got here? I walked, hitched a few rides, killed a few men and a lot of zombies. People don't much get in my way when they here Ole D is comin to town. People know me through this apocalypse, and a reputation is something you take to heart nowadays. Hell, some folk will even pay you any way they can for you to do them a kindness. Granted, I usually take my payment in sex. I don't honestly feel right taking food or any other valuables from people for payment, unless they piss me off somehow. Now, if you don't mind, I think I'll be off for now."
