"So, just who do you think you are? What's your name kid?"
"Name’s Johanna. But life’s short, so most people call me Jo. Last name’s Talbot."
"That's as good a name as any. How old are you?
"Twenty-three last February"
"What would be your role in our... current society?
"Haven’t found it yet. I’m pretty independent by nature, so I’ve stayed as a loner so far. I like doin’ what I want, when I want to, so taking orders isn’t a strong point. If I had a job though, I’d be a good scavenger. But it’s not like I can’t fend for myself either. Kinda gotta do all the jobs when you’re on your own, y’know?"
"You're a weird looking woman. You remind me a lot of Lauren Cohan.
How would you describe yourself? You a rebel? Or maybe you're more about niceties?
"Niceties are kind of pointless, aren’t they? The whole world’s gone to hell, so I’ve kinda stopped holding doors open for people and getting’ to know them before I point a gun at their face. I admit, I have hardened up since things went south. I used to be pretty friendly and, y’know, generally happier. I’m not very trusting of anyone I don’t know anymore, so I prefer just to rely upon myself. I’m also mostly alone because I don’t like making ties… I’ve learned people don’t last long in this world, so why get close to them if they’re just gonna die? Yeah I admit, I’m pretty hard-hearted, but it’s kept me alive so far. I’m also not much of a people person… my socialization skills have gotten rusty after so long with only murderous walking corpses for company.
I’m good at gettin in and gettin out of situations. I’ve learned to really think on my feet. If you’re in a tight spot with me, I’m the person to be with, because I can usually puzzle out an escape route pretty fast. I’ve escaped from packs of walkers far too many times for me to count. Though I am known to run away from situations I can’t handle, I’m not afraid to hold my ground. If someone’s in trouble, I often feel I have some sorta moral obligation to help. That’s something I haven’t lost form my previous life. But don’t count on me sticking around long after… I have my own agenda, and I won’t let someone slow me down."

"What kind of weapon do you like to use? That's important information."
"I prefer my dad’s old bowie knife… 8 inch blade, antler handle. I keep that baby in a strap on my right thigh for easy access. If you kill ‘em quiet, you don’t alert the other walkers. Aside from that, I carry a 9mm Glock 17 I picked up after things went south. I try to only use that when I have to."
"Are you with a clan, kid?"
"Nah. Not yet at least… I’ve been doing fine on my own. Plus, I have my own agenda that doesn’t involve staying in one place for a long time."
"Now, I know it's not much relevance now-a-days, but I like to know a little about people before I cut 'em loose. Who did you lose in all this? And how did you get where you are today?"
"I usually don’t like to talk about it, but since you asked so nice… I’ve lived my whole life with my dad and my kid brother, Asher. Not so much a kid anymore at 20, but you know what I mean. Our mom died when we were little, so she was never really in the picture. Anyway, dad tried his best to raise us right and he did a pretty good job. Usually treated me more like a son anyway, but I didn’t mind. He taught me how to use a knife at an early age and how to shoot a gun. Turns out those are valuable skills nowadays. I was always that tomboy girl, but what do you expect being raised by only a father and having a brother as your best friend?
Problem was, for most of Asher and I’s life, dad was only around some of the time. He spent most of his time working, and that work involved a lot of travel so he’d be gone for days, even weeks at a time. When we were still both really little he had someone to look after us, but money was always pretty tight so once I got old enough he would leave and put me in charge of keeping Asher safe. That was a heavy burden for a young kid to bear, but I bore it just fine. It helped that Asher was damn well behaved, better than I was at his age.
Eventually we grew up, and life happened. I graduated high school but never went to college. Instead I found odd jobs around my hometown, doing whatever I wanted. Eventually I even got an apartment by myself and everything. Asher was a better kid and went off to college in a nearby city, not too far away.
The sickness hit during a school break. Asher and I were back home, but dad wasn’t yet. He was gone on a work trip, and was due back in a few days. But then people started getting sick, and the first walkers plagued the streets. You know how it went from there… the virus spread like wildfire, and Asher and I had to get out. We left the city and headed for the hills, literally.
As soon as we could, the two of us started searching for dad. I wouldn’t believe that he was dead until we found him, so we searched. Never found anything conclusive though, but what do you expect? So he still may be out there. Or it may be he’s not... maybe I’ll never know. But Asher and I stuck together, until a few weeks ago. We needed supplies so took the risk and decided to scavenge in a nearby town. There were more walkers than we predicted… far more. Somewhere in the fray, we got separated. I got out, but couldn’t get back to our meeting place. By the time I was able to get back, he was gone. I’m sure he’s still alive… Asher’s a smart kid and between dad and I, we taught him well. So that’s where I’m at now… I’m looking for him. And dammit, I’ll find him if it’s the last thing I do. He’s my kid brother and the only thing I got left in this world. I will find him, dead or alive.”
