"So, just who do you think you are? What's your name kid?"
"Westley James Cooper. People call me West though."
"That's as good a name as any. How old are you?
"Twenty-five."
"What would be your role in our... current society?
"Well I obviously don’t have the build for a warrior or a fighter. And I can be quick on my feet, sure, but I’d rather not risk my life in walker-infested towns like scavengers. Luckily I was in a medical program at school, and injuries never phased me much, so I suppose you can call me a Medic."
"You're a weird looking man. You remind me a lot of Andrew Garfield.
How would you describe yourself? You a rebel? Or maybe you're more about niceties?
"Well I guess you could say I’m a pretty nice guy. I try to stay fairly optimistic and cheerful because sometimes that really affects how I interact with patients and people. I’m not a good fighter, but I’m good with people. I empathize and sympathize really easily, which often makes it easy for me to find out what’s wrong with people and treat them. I’m not very authoritative but that changes when someone’s life is in danger and I can save it. If someone’s seriously sick or injured, I won’t take anyone’s crap because I’ll do my damndest to get them better."
"What kind of weapon do you like to use? That's important information."
"The most weapon-like thing I’ll wield is a scalpel. Like I said, not the fighting type. But if I ever do venture outside the wall, I do ok with most handguns and some shotguns."
"Are you with a clan, kid?"
"Sure. I was adopted by Clan 3, so they’re my people."
"Now, I know it's not much relevance now-a-days, but I like to know a little about people before I cut 'em loose. Who did you lose in all this? And how did you get where you are today?"
"That’s pretty personal, but I guess I don’t mind. My parents were a couple of wealthy business people in England. I didn’t have any siblings. I grew up there, but I decided to come to America for college. I went to school on the east coast, and then stuck around to go to med school. The plague hit while I was on a road trip with two friends. We were coming through Tennessee when it really got bad. Josh and Amy didn’t end up making it. Josh got sick first, and left in order to keep Amy and I safe. At least I never had to see him die. Amy and I were on our own for a while, but then she got gashed by a walker on her shoulder. I tried my best but… I couldn’t save her either. Long story short, both of them died and I was on my own until Clan 3 picked me up. Luckily I have medicine skills, so I can lend a hand around here.”
